Kansas City Command News Release

KANSAS CITY- The Kansas City Command announced this week that quarterback Steven Gachette and wide receiver OJ Simpson will each rejoin the team for the upcoming 2012 season. The deals mark the first two official signings for the Command in the Arena Football League's three-week exclusive team re-signing period. Beginning Monday, September 26, all unsigned players will be free to join any team in the league.

Gachette joined the Command for the last three games of the 2011 season as the backup to QB Stephen Wasil. His only action came in the season finale against Tulsa when he completed all three of his passing attempts for a total of 24 yards. Before joining the Command last season, Gachette had a brief stint with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He played college football for NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.

Simpson was added to the team's roster on July 20, 2011. The rookie out of Missouri Western was inactive for the Command's final game versus the Talons but was impressive enough in practice to earn a spot on the 2012 pre-season roster. In 2008, he tallied nearly 1,000 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns as a member of the United Indoor Football League's Sioux City Bandits.

Both players will look to compete for starting roles once training camp begins next spring.
