October 6, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Kansas City Command News Release

KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Command and the Arena Football League announced the team's 2012 schedule Thursday. The 18-game slate features six contests, home and away, against the Command's three Central Division rivals, seven matchups against teams from the National Conference's West Division, and the remaining five games will be versus American Conference foes. The Command have one scheduled appearance on NFL Network's "Arena Football Friday", an April 27 meeting with the Tampa Bay Storm.

After a Week 1 bye, the season will kick off at home inside SprintCenter against the 2011 Arena Bowl champion Jacksonville Sharks on Friday, March 16^th at 7:30 p.m. The Command are the last team to defeat Jacksonville, clipping the Sharks 49-48 on July 15.

The Command will take the franchise's first-ever trip to Cleveland for a Monday night football matchup with the Gladiators in the road opener on March 26.

KC will have a very short turn-around for its next game, hosting last year's Arena Bowl runner-up Arizona on short rest in Week 4 for a special Thursday night contest on March 29.

The Command will then be away from the friendly confines of Sprint Center for over a month, traveling to Chicago for the division opener on Saturday, April 7, San Jose for an April 21 matchup with the SaberCats, and finally to Tampa Bay for the NFL Network game on Friday, April 27. The stretch of road games does include the team's second and final bye in Week 6.

Arena Football fans can celebrate Cinco de Mayo Command-style when KC hosts the San Antonio Talons at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

The Command will then embark on another two-game road trip, heading to Iowa for a May 12 matchup with the Barnstormers and to Pittsburgh for a first-ever meeting with the Power.

After the brief road trip, Kansas City will play six of its next eight games at home, beginning with a Saturday, May 26 contest against the Georgia Force at 7 p.m., followed by a June 2 bout with the Utah Blaze.

For the second straight year, the Command will travel to Spokane, Wash., to take on the Shock. This season's contest will take place Saturday, June 9.

Also becoming an annual tradition is a Kansas City Command home game on Father's Day. Last year, KC beat Cleveland 50-41, sending all the dads at SprintCenter home happy. In 2012, the Command will look to make it two wins in a row on Father's Day, June 17, in a 2 p.m. matchup with San Jose.

In Week 16, the Command will host the second and final 2012 regular season game against the Chicago Rush on Saturday, June 23.

June 30 will mark the Command's first game at San Antonio for the rematch with the relocated Talons.

The Command will host Iowa on Saturday, July 7, and Spokane Saturday, July 14, in the final regular season home games of the year. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. kickoffs.

Kansas City will wrap up the regular season by traveling to Arizona for a rematch of the Week 4 game against the Rattlers.

"We're looking forward to another season of Command football at SprintCenter," Command owner Chris Likens said. "The home opener will be here before we know it. We think we've got a great schedule for all of our fans to enjoy and we hope a big and loud home crowd will be there throughout the year."

"It's always an exciting day when the schedule comes out," said Command coach Danton Barto. "We're working hard to put together a team that will be ready to compete against every opponent we face."
