Kansas City Command News Release

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - The Kansas City Command made several personnel moves this week, bringing in four new players. Two, former Kansas State fullback Victor Mann and offensive lineman Dan Jones, played for the team last year and return for a second stint in Kansas City. Two wide receivers, Marcus Barnett and Xavier Lee, will be making their Command debuts.

Mann (6-2, 290, Kansas State) played in 15 games for the Command last year. He ran 36 times for 82 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 76 yards. This will be his fourth AFL season as Mann has previously played for the New York Dragons, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, and Dallas Vigilantes. He played two seasons in af2 and was twice in training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs. Mann was a three-year letter-winner and two-year starter at Kansas State, earning team Offensive MVP and Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors as a senior.

"Having Victor back is very good for this football team," Coach Danton Barto said. "He was one of our most steady performers last year and he brings a great locker room presence."

Jones (6-4, 310, Lindenwood) started the final five games on the offensive line for KC last year after joining the team in late May. He was a four-year starter at Lindenwood and earned second-team NAIA All-American honors as a senior in 2010. He started this year with the Pittsburgh Power but did not see regular season action.

"Dan was a player we got later in the year but he played very solid for us as a rookie," Barto said. "He'll come in and help our line immediately. I think he's ready to become one of the better players in the AFL."

Lee (6-4, 250, Florida State) is a two-year veteran of the AFL as a quarterback and receiver. He played for the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz in 2010, catching 62 passes for 718 yards and seven touchdowns. He spent last year with the Power and tallied eight catches and three TDs. He also threw for 304 yards and four scores with the Power. Lee played quarterback at Florida State and was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2008.

"We've been looking for the right fit for a big-body receiver and we're fortunate that he was sitting at home and wanting to play," Barto said. "He's going to bring a lot to our offense that we've been missing. He can make people miss or run them over."

Barnett (6-2, 185, Cincinnati) caught 127 passes for 1,567 yards and 17 touchdowns in his Bearcats career. He burst on the scene with 862 yards and 13 TDs as a freshman. An AFL rookie, Barnett played in five games earlier this year for the Omaha Beef of the IFL. He caught 22 passes for 293 yards a two scores.

"Marcus has a chance to be one of the better guys in this league with his explosiveness, quickness and hands," Barto said. "His athletic ability and skill set has shown immediately in practice this week."

All four players will be available for tomorrow night's game against the San Antonio Talons as the Command return home to play at Sprint Center after a month on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
