Columbus Riverdragons News Release
Columbus, GA., July 20, 2003 â The Columbus Riverdragons will tip-off their third season of providing affordable family entertainment to the Chattahoochee Valley in their home opener, Friday, November 28 at 7 p.m. as they take on the Asheville Altitude at the Columbus Civic Center, the team announced today with the release of their 2003-04 NBDL regular season schedule.
The Riverdragons will open the regular season on the road, Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m. against the Huntsville Flight at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Ala.. The Riverdragons will play 46 regular season games during the 2003-04 season.
"We are extremely excited about opening year three, especially based upon the excitement that was built coming out of year two," stated Riverdragons team president Barry McMullin. "As we look forward to the season, the Riverdragons strive once again to offer the best and most affordable entertainment for the families of Columbus."
The Riverdragons are offering several ticket options, including the introduction of two new "Mini-Plans". For just $50, fans are given the best opportunity to experience a premier game date each month during the season, as the plans are entirely composed of weekends and holidays. With each "Mini-Plan", fans get six Riverdragons games for the price of five. "As we saw in March, our five dollar kids ticket has become a huge hit in Columbus," said McMullin. "We are hoping that our new âMini-Plans' offer the same kind of value for the growing base of Riverdragons fans in the Columbus area."
The Riverdragons will play 15 of their 23 regular season home games on the weekends or holidays, including: Martin Luther King Day (Monday, January 19) and President's Day (Monday, February 16). Over the final six games of last season, the Riverdragons averaged over 3,000 fans per game, which included setting a team attendance record on March 22 of 6,937 in front of an ESPN2 national television audience.
Once again, the Riverdragons are offering their $5 Kids Ticket for all 23 home games. One of the best values in Columbus, all kids 12 & under can attend a Riverdragons game and sit anywhere in the Civic Center for just $5, based on availability.
