
Columbus' Matt Gingera Named Easton Rookie of the Year

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League on Monday announced that Matt Gingera of the Columbus Cottonmouths has been selected as the Easton Rookie of the Year in a vote of SPHL coaches, general managers and media representatives.
Louisiana's Kirk Byczynski and Pensacola's Ross MacKinnon finished second in the balloting.
Gingera led all rookies in points (50), while his 28 goals and nine game-winning goals were both second-most among all SPHL players. Gingera played his collegiate hockey at Sacred Heart University (CT) where he led the Pioneers in scoring his senior season, earning 2011-12 Third-Team All Conference honors.
