Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added a team in Columbus, Indiana for the upcoming season. "It is great to be back home again in Indiana," stated ABA CEO, Joe Newman. "This is one of several new Indiana teams that we have projected for next season - and it has already made a major impact on the league as one of our best traveling teams this season. With a fabulous talent pool from IU, Purdue, IUPUI, Butler, Ball State, Notre Dame, Evansville and other great Indiana basketball schools, this team should be very formidable - and certainly its leadership is outstanding."

The team will be known as the Indiana Diesels (Columbus is the home of Cummins Engine, one of the countries leading manufacturers) and will be headed by local contractor, Rex Voils. Red had the opportunity to coach and play on a Men's Major traveling softball team from 1989 thru 2000 that won five state titles and was 1999 Men's MNajor World Champs. He has been married for 25 years, has two children and is active in church and community. "We've had a chance to see the ABA close-up as a traveling team this season, we know we can be very competitive and we've put together a remarkable organization that will maximize the potential from a business and community standpoint," stated Voils. "We are ready."

Dr. Paul Madison, Director of Surgery for Chicago Towers Hospital, one of the leading spiine surgeons and anesthesiologists in the US is deeply involved with the team. Dr. Madison conducts health clinics for underprivileged youth and is very active in the community and loves to work with youth.

Also aboard is Matt Esarey, who studied basketball under Hall of Fame and Division all time winningest head coach Bob Knight. He moved on to serve as Director of Basketball Operations at Bowling Green University and is now pursuing his master's degree in business. "We understand that professional basketball is much more than just putting a team on the court," stated Esarey. "We have a responsibility to our community, especially the youth of our community, and we are going to work hard to contribute to the future of Columbus. We are thrilled to be part of the ABA."
