Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added Columbus, GA to its expansion teams for the upcoming season. "Our Southeastern Division is developing rapidly with the fourth team in Georgia that also includes Atlanta, Savannah and College Park," said Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "And we are particularly delighted because the new ownership group is led by a former ABA player, A.J. Stallworth, a young man who set is goal to own a professional basketball team and have accomplished it. What a great way to continue a great doing something he loves."

Albert "AJ" Stallworth is a 6'8, 255 lb Forward/Center who has played basketball throughout the world during his professional career, including a stint in the ABA and also with the Harlem Globetrotters for over 200 games. He was an All Conference player at Wenonah High School in Birmingham, AL where he led his team to the Alabama State Championship and went on to lead his Life University team to the NAIA National Collegiate Championship. One of his long time supporters, attorney Adam L. Prossin, stated, "AJ has paid his dues and he has the skills, heart, drive, charter and attitude to help a team as a team leader and the patience and proper temperament to be a mentor to young players. On and off the court, AJ is a leader."

"I am very appreciative of this opportunity," added Stallworth. "I have been a goal setter all of my life; I play hard on the court, but I also studied hard while in college and have had an opportunity to observe many teams in their business operations. I know that I can make this a successful organization and are looking forward to the upcoming season. We have a lot to do in six months, but we are ready for the challenge."
