Colts Polcovich Sold to Marlins

San Angelo shortstop Kevin Polcovich was sold to the Florida Marlins on Wednesday.

Polcovich is expected to report to the Carolina Mudcats, the Marlins' Double-A Southern League affiliated in Zebulon, N.C.

A Central League mid-season All-Star, Polcovich batted .289 in 82 games for the Colts with 17 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 43 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, a .363 on-base percentage and 19 errors at shortstop.

An ex-major leaguer, Polcovich played in 165 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1997-98, hitting .234 in 457 at bats with four homers and 35 RBIs.

The Mudcats are 71-52 overall and two games behind Tennessee in the second half East Division standings. They are guaranteed a playoff spot after winning the first half.
