
Colts' Joseph Blandisi named Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Joseph Blandisi of the Barrie Colts is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 5 after leading the league with nine points in three games including three goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.
Blandisi helped the Colts earn five of a possible six points this week producing three multi-point games. After receiving honourable mention for the award last week, Blandisi scored a goal and one assist on the road Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Windsor Spitfires, then scored a goal with one assist Friday in Sarnia earning third star honours in a 4-2 win over the Sting. Blandisi finished his week with a career-high five-point performance Saturday night against the Ottawa 67's scoring once with four assists as third star of the 9-3 victory.
Blandisi, a 20-year-old from Markham, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season and second with the Colts. Selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Draft, the overage forward was a free agent invite to the Buffalo Sabres main training camp this season and currently leads the OHL in scoring with 14 points in five games including seven goals and seven assists.

Also considered for the award this week was Guelph Storm forward Pius Suter with five points including three goals and two assists in a pair of victories, and Connor McDavid who helped the Erie Otters extend their winning streak to four-straight games to open the 2014-15 campaign with a four-point performance scoring twice with two assists as first star of a 7-3 win over the Sting on Saturday night. In goal, Ken Appleby of the Oshawa Generals won two games including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.50 and a save percentage .959.
