Colorado Venom News Release
Loveland, Colo. â The Colorado Venom continues preparations for Saturday's season opener by holding its final two practices of the week at the Family Fun Center in Denver, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 9-10 from 8-10 p.m.
The Family Fun Center is located at the corner of Arapahoe and Peoria Roads in Denver. The practice sessions are open to the public and any media that wish to attend should contact Director of Communications, Barry Rubenstein at 970-206-4889 to be put on the media list.
The squad participated in a two full pad practices this past weekend Saturday, March 6 at Roosevelt High School in Johnstown before holding an intrasquad scrimmage Sunday, March 7 at OD's Indoor Facility in Fort Collins.
"It think that the team is really starting to gel," said head coach Ron Mondt. "We have some quality athletes and some real quality guys on this squad, and that will hopefully translate well on to the field. We have some things that still need to be worked on, but we looked sharp out there on Sunday with a couple of players catching my eye."
One of those players to catch the attention of the coaching staff was newly signed offensive tackle Shane James. Originally from New Orleans, the 6-foot-3, 280-pounder played his collegiate ball at McNeese State University before spending two years with the Denver Titans of the Colorado Football Conference.
"Shane is a big, physical team guy," said d-line coach Scott Darnell. "He will help to solidify what I think will be one of the best offensive lines in the league."
After a two-week layoff following the Utah game, Colorado will hold its first home contest of the year at the Budweiser Events Center Saturday, April 3 against the Lincoln Capitals. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Venom season tickets are on sale now, with prices ranging from $70 to $245 for the complete 7-game home schedule.
