Broomfield, Colo. - The Colorado 14ers basketball club of the NBA Development League today announced the selections for the 2007-08 14ers Dance Team, following auditions last Saturday at the Broomfield Event Center. The squad is comprised of 14 women, which includes four returning dancers from the 2006-07 inaugural season.
"I'm pleased with the quality of the team this year. All of the ladies are talented individuals with the type of attitude and personality we want," said Jennifer Reifman, Director of Game Entertainment and Community Relations. "These ladies not only come from dance backgrounds, but many also have experience in tumbling, figure skating and gymnastics."
Ladies selected include: Alissa Flanagan, Natalie DeBell, Erin Pershing, Allana Risenhoover, Tracy Rogers, Anne Barnhart, Jillian Waltman, Kayla McLeod, Stephanie Nichols, Stephanie Anderson, Amy Svec, Billye Dee Williams, Sadie Richardson, Marie Smith (left to right in attached photo taken from the dance auditions).
Risenhoover, Barnhart, Williams and Richardson are all returning dancers from the 2006-07 inaugural season.
The 14ers Dance Team will perform dance and cheer routines during all Colorado 14ers home games at the Broomfield Event Center and will participate in various community events throughout the season. Candidates were evaluated on a variety of attributes including physical fitness, dance ability, personality, energy and poise.
"We also have a great choreography intern in Brieanna Mercer, who is already impressing us with her routines. Fans will have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season," added Reifman.
The Colorado 14ers is the affiliate team of the Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors. Season tickets start around $10 per game for adults and around $6 per game for children 12 years and under. The D-League, the NBA's minor league established to develop talent across all disciplines for the NBA, will be relocating its headquarters from Greenville, S.C. to New York City to help foster the D-League's continued growth by giving it direct access to the support and resources of the NBA and WNBA. During the league's sixth season, 19 NBA teams assigned 24 players to D-League rosters, and 14 NBA teams called-up 16 players (âGatorade Call-ups'). Additionally, every referee hired by the NBA since 2002 has worked in the D-League, while coaches, athletic trainers and front office executives are also being developed.
The D-League continues to grow with four expansion teams set to begin play in 2007-08 (Des Moines, Iowa; Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Hidalgo, Texas; and Orem, Utah).
