
College Teammates Genovy And Traylen Pair Up For Bucks

LAREDO, TX- When the Central Hockey League's Laredo Bucks open training camp October 8th, there will be a small reunion taking place for college teammates Jeff Genovy and Dustin Traylen.
From 2002 to 2005 the pair played three seasons together at Division I Clarkson University in upstate New York. During those three seasons the duo helped the Golden Knights reach the 2004 ECAC Championship game as the number nine seed, upsetting three higher-seeded teams, including number one Colgate in the semi-finals. In that game Genovy had the game-winning assist, and Traylen stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced in Clarkson's 2-1 win. Clarkson lost in the finals to pre-season number one Harvard 4-2, with the Crimson scoring with just 38 seconds left in the third period.
During those three seasons together Genovy tallied 10 goals, 19 assists, for 29 points with six power-play goals (in his four seasons at Clarkson Genovy scored 22 goals, 34 assists, 56 points), while Traylen went 30-37-8, with a .909 save percentage, and a 2.74 G.A.A, with five shutouts, while wining the Knight's Rookie of the Year award his freshman season.
Eight times During the three seasons they were teammates Genovy tallied at least one point in the same game that Traylen was the winning goalie.. In those eight games Traylen had one shutout, and Genovy had three goals and six assists for nine points. The last game Genovy and Traylen played together was March 12th, 2005 with Clarkson losing to Cornell 3-2 in overtime, ending the Knights season in the ECAC Quarterfinals.
Since that day Genovy and Traylen have taken different paths. Genovy played one more year at Clarkson before playing last season in Laredo, while Traylen played in the AHL, ECHL, and UHL from 2005-2007. Genovy is entering his second season as a Buck, while Traylen is entering his first with Laredo, and third season as a pro.
The Bucks are preparing for their sixth CHL season and will open training camp October 8th. Laredo will open the 2007-08 season October 19th in New Mexico. The home opener is October 26th against division foe Corpus Christi. For ticket information call 718-BUCK.
