
Coach Hart Returns For 2007 Season

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are excited to announce that Head Coach John Hart will return for the 2007 season. Coach Hart led the BlueCats to their most successful season ever and was named as an honorable mention for UIF Coach of the Year during the 2006 season. During his first season as the BlueCats head coach, Coach Hart led the team to the highest win total in team history, including Evansville's first ever playoff win.
BlueCats Head Coach John Hart said, "We're already very excited about next season and I know the owners and everyone involved with the team are thrilled with our run we made in the second half and the playoff win. We finished the season very strong especially when you consider where we started and where we ended up. We're certainly expecting to build on this momentum from the end of the 2006 season and carry it over to even bigger and better things in 2007."
This fall will be Coach Hart's 6th season as the Head Football Coach at F.J. Reitz High School in Evansville. While at Reitz, he's led the Panthers to a 49-13 record over his previous 5 seasons. His teams won conference championships in 2003, 2004, and 2005 and city championships in 2002, 2003, and 2005. Reitz has won three sectional titles (2001, 2003, 2005) and one regional championship (2001) under Coach Hart. He's been named All-City Coach of the Year three times (2002, 2003, 2005) and All-Metro Coach of the Year twice. (2001, 2003)
This past season he led the Reitz Panthers to an 11-2 record and ended the season ranked #4 in Class 5A in the state of Indiana's final high school AP and Coaches' poll.
Before he arrived at Reitz, he was the Head Football Coach at nearby Mt. Carmel High School for 11 seasons, with a total overall record of 101-21. He led the Golden Aces to 9 conference titles and had 4 undefeated seasons (1993, 1995, 1996, 1998). He made the Illinois High School playoffs all 11 years at Mt. Carmel. He was the conference Coach of the Year 4 times (1993, 1995, 1996, 1998) and was inducted into the Mt. Carmel Hall of Fame.
Prior to his tenure at Mt. Carmel High School, he was the Head Football Coach at Edwards County High School in Albion, IL. In 1989 his team won a school record 8 games and made the Illinois High School playoffs. He was named Southern Illinois Coach of the Year in 1989 and inducted to the Edwards County Hall of Fame.
His overall high school coaching record in 21 seasons is 174-56 which ranks 19th on the all-time active list in Indiana. He's been named Coach of the Year in 8 different years, had 5 undefeated teams, and 19 consecutive winning seasons as a Head Coach.
