Alpena MI: When Head Coach Kenny Miller named Nolan Craner co-captain for the second consecutive season he knew Craner would lead his team on and off the ice, so it's no surprise to see that Craner is atop the league leaders in points in the early stages of the 06-07 season.

This season mark's the Plainwell MI native's 3rd that he has sported the IceDiggers jersey, Craner along with co-captain Ricardo Yesue (Allen Park MI) and coach Miller are the only three left from the group of players and staff that made the move north prior to last season when the team called Toledo home.

In 6 games this season Craner has 4 goals to go along with 7 assists for a total of 11 points. 3 of his 4 goals have come on the powerplay. Nolan has recorded at least one point in every game so far this season.

Coach Miller is not only happy with the way Craner has played but also with his leadership skills this season. "Nolan leads by example who gets his point across to the team by what he does on the ice, every guy on the team looks up to him and he deserves the season he is having so far, he has given a lot to this organization in the three years he has been with us."

Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville MI) and Todd Rudasill (Powell OH) act as alternate captains. Miller had this to say about all 4 of his captains "All four lead by example both on and off the ice, each of them are great kids who will make a difference in whatever they choose to do after their playing days in Alpena are over."

The team captains and the rest of the boys will face the Traverse City North Stars on Friday night at 7:00PM inside Northern Lights arena. For information please log onto the IceDiggers website at www.icediggers.com or call the main office at (989) 356-9812. Tickets are available Monday thru Friday during normal business hours.
