Cloutier named Player of the Week

BOARDMAN, Ohio - Mahoning Valley Phantoms center Dustin Cloutier was named the North American Hockey League's North Division Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 18.

Cloutier, a 2007 recruit of Bentley College, scored three goals and added three assists in the Phantoms' weekend sweep of the Alpena Ice Diggers on Feb. 16-17 at the Ice Zone.

On Feb. 16, Cloutier scored twice, including his league-leading 10th game-winning goal, in a 3-2 win. He returned the following night with a goal and three assists in an 11-1 rout of the Ice Diggers.

He is the sixth Phantom to receive the weekly honor this season, joining three-time recipient and goaltender Ryan Zapolski, right wing Nathan Longpre, center Chad Boeckman, right wing Alden Hirschfeld and right wing Janis Purins.

Cloutier is the son of Greg and Bonni Cloutier of Berkley, Mich. During the season, he lives with Phantoms host family Ken and Jennifer Sabol of Struthers.

In Ann Arbor, Mich. Tuesday night, Cloutier extended his point-scoring streak to 11 games with his team-leading 32nd goal of the season in a 5-3 win over the U.S. National Team. The streak is the fifth-longest in the league this season.

Cloutier's 32 goals are tied for second in the league and his 64 points are seventh in NAHL scoring.

The Phantoms are off for until next weekend. They host 10 of their final 12 regular season games at the Ice Zone, beginning with a three-game series against the Marquette Rangers on Mar. 2-4. Face-off Friday and Saturday night is at 7 p.m. while Sunday's matinee is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Mahoning Valley Phantoms are owned by the B.J. Alan Company- Phantom Fireworks, which is headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio.
