Cleveland to join ABA in 2005

November 11, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA co-Founder, today announced that Cleveland, Ohio has been added to the fast-growing list of teams scheduled to begin play in the basketball league in 2005. According to Newman, "Cleveland is a great sports town with very enthusiastic fans. We think they'll be very supportive. And we have a wonderful owner, attorney Joe Lewandowski, who has a lifetime passion for basketball and tremendous plans for his team. We're excited."

Lewandowski added, "And we're excited also. In fact, my family and I drove to Indianapolis to meet with Joe Newman to work out the details and to discuss the many ways that we can become a part of the Cleveland area sports scene. Like so many ABA teams, our marketing focus will be creating a fan base among the area's young people, working with schools, churches, youth leagues and other groups. I'm very interested in interviewing coaching candidates, office and marketing personnel, and others who can help maximize the potential of our team."
