JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Randal Diaz's RBI single in the top of the ninth inning was the difference as Frederick topped the BlueClaws 10-9 on Wednesday at ShoreTown Ballpark.
The BlueClaws stormed from 9-3 down with six runs in the seventh inning to tie the game. Juan Villavicencio walked with the bases loaded. An error on a Devin Saltiban grounder allowed two runs to score. Then, down 9-7, Kodey Shojinaga doubled in one run and Daunte Stuart singled in another to tie the game.
Diaz finished with three hits and five RBIs in the win.
The BlueClaws have now dropped the first two games of their series with the Keys, a series they entered having won nine of their previous 12 games.
Randal Diaz took Cade Obermueller deep on a 3-2 pitch for a two run home run that put the Keys up 2-0 in the first inning. It was Diaz's ninth home run of the season.
Frederick scored four more runs in the fourth inning that included an RBI single by Diaz and one from Edwin Amparo.
Trailing 6-0, the BlueClaws got two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a throwing error from Diaz at third.
BlueClaws starter Cade Obermueller came out after four innings, allowing six runs on five hits.
Villavicencio had three hits for Jersey Shore, as did Scott Mudler. Tyler Pettorini had two. Stuart had one to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
Todd Kniebbe put two on base but escaped the ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the year with Frederick.
The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Cody Bowker starts for Jersey Shore.
