
Clark Cup Defense Begins With Old Foe

Hockey Renewal: Familiar foes do battle once again as the two seed Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (38-19-3) and three seed Indiana Ice (33-24-3) meet in the playoffs for the fifth time in six seasons. The two clubs have met on 14 playoff occasions with the Ice sporting a 6-8 record against the RoughRiders. Cedar Rapids eliminated Indiana from playoff contention in 2004-05 and 2005-06, but the Ice returned the favor in 2006-07 and during last year's 2009-10 Clark Cup championship run.
Regular Season Adventures : The Ice was 3-2-0 against Cedar Rapids in the regular season (2-1-0 in Cedar Rapids) and was led in scoring by Antti Roppo (3G, 2A), Bryon Paulazzo (2G, A) and Kevin Goumas (3A). Cab Morris was the goaltender of note with a 3-1-0 record, 1.73 GAA and a .947 SV%. The RoughRiders received three-point efforts from Derek DeBlois (3G), Jeff Costello (2G, A), Thomas Fallen (3A) and Zach Lehrke (3A). Troy Grosenick started four games in net and was 1-2-1 with a 1.97 GAA and a .927 SV%.
Playoff Histories: The Ice is the defending Clark Cup Champions and has made the playoffs in all six years of existence and is 18-14 all-time in postseason action. Cedar Rapids has never missed the playoffs in their ten seasons of USHL hockey and has a 2005 Clark Cup Championship on their mantle.
Notables: Indiana Ice: Nic Dowd carries a three-game goal streak and Nick Bailen rides a three-game point streak into the playoffs...Dowd and Anthony Bitetto led the club with five game-winning goals in the regular season....Bryon Paulazzo has recorded ten points (6G, 4A) in his last nine games...The Ice is 3-6-1 in their last ten games...Indy was first in the regular season at home on the penalty kill (88.6%) and second overall (85.6%)...Cedar Rapids RoughRiders: Jeff Costello led the 'Riders in goals (29), power play goals (11) and penalty minutes (149)...Goaltenders Troy Grosenick and Cody Campbell went 7-3-0 with a 1.50 GAA and a .939 save percentage in the team's last ten games of the regular season...Cedar Rapids has won six straight at home entering playoffs and is 7-3-0 in their last ten games...The RoughRiders tied for first in the regular season with 16 shorthanded goals.
REGULAR SEASON ACCOLADES: Cab Morris finished third among USHL goaltenders in SV% (.913) and fifth in GAA (2.57)...Nick Bailen tied for second among league defensemen in points (41) and tied for third in goals (14)...Anthony Bitetto was fourth among USHL blueliners in points (40) and was third in assists (29)...Kevin Goumas recorded the top point streak (8 games) for the Ice this year, while Max Cook tied the franchise record with a six-game goal streak...Casey DeSmith posted a six-game win streak earlier this season which was good for second best all-time.
FOR THE RECORD BOOKS: Bryon Paulazzo set the franchise record for best plus/minus (+22) in a single season...Antti Roppo's eight multiple goal games was a franchise best....Cab Morris set the new franchise goaltending record for GAA (2.57) in a year....Nick Bailen departs this year as the all-time games leader (220) in Ice history...Bailen and Anthony Bitetto (81 pts) are the top two scoring defensemen in franchise history....Bitetto set the franchise record for points in a game (5) on 2/3/10 at Youngstown then tied his own record two weeks later (2/17/10 vs. Youngstown)....In the 2/17/10 game, the Ice set a franchise record for goals in a game (11).
