City Stars Ride HeavenTrain With Gifts For 1,300 Kids
December 23, 2008 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Cleveland City Stars News Release
The City Stars team members were once again represented on the HeavenTrain over the weekend as the Lighthouse, inc. sponsored bus made charitable stops across Cleveland.
On a day with temps in the 20's and icy roads, the bus was overflowing with volunteers and stocked full of toys, burgers and games. The HeavenTrain made stops in five different neighborhoods Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m to hand out free Christmas gifts to underprivileged children all around Cleveland.
The final stop came at the Lonnie Burten Rec Center in Cleveland's Central Neighborhood where the City Stars were a big hit last spring during community day. The children at Lonnie Burten were again treated to a fantastic day as gifts and food were handed out to the droves of smiling faces.
It was a great day in Cleveland as the HeavenTrain was able to reach over 1,300 kids that otherwise would not have a real chance at Christmas.
