City Stars GM Announces Resignation
June 6, 2009 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Cleveland City Stars News Release
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland City Stars today announced the resignation of General Manager Mark Geissbauer. Geissbauer has been the General Manager since the City Stars inaugural season in 2007, and has led the organization through three successful years including the 2008 USL Second Division championship and this year's promotion to the First Division.
STATEMENT FROM CLEVELAND CITY STARS PRESIDENT JONATHAN H. ORTLIP:
"It is with sadness that we accept Mark's resignation as General Manager of the Cleveland City Stars. Mark has played a crucial role in the development of the club since its inception. He has been instrumental in the tremendous success the club has had in just a few short years both on and off the pitch. Mark's innovative approach and hard work as GM has stood out and been recognized by the USL on numerous occasions.
"Last year Mark and I spoke about the need to be an organization that not only develops players but also invests in people in order to build a strong front office. It is a Cleveland City goal to invest in others who can step in and do our jobs. Mark has done a great job training a gifted team which I believe will carry on the tradition of excellence that he has helped establish.
"I'm sad to see Mark go not only because of what he has contributed to the organization but also because he is a friend.
"On behalf of the team and staff of Cleveland City, I want to wish him continued success and God's blessings."
