Penn FC News Release
Goalkeeper Bryan Hill recorded a crucial penalty kick save in his debut as the Harrisburg City Islanders fought the Cincinnati Kings to a 0-0 tie in their 2005 season opener on Saturday night. The game also served as a U.S. Open Cup qualifier for both teams.
Hill's big stop came at the 67-minute mark after Harrisburg defender J.T. Dorsey was whistled for a foul in the penalty area, giving Kings midfielder Jack Cummings a chance to score from the spot. Hill, a veteran of several Premier Development League seasons, was up to the challenge, diving to his right to stop Cummings' initial attempt, then springing back to his left to thwart Cummings on the rebound. Hill finished with five saves.
Along with Hill, Art Bartholomew, Dustin Bixler, Adam Clay, Henry Mensah, Tommy Rutter, Bernie Showers, and Jimmy Stone all made their Harrisburg debuts as Head Coach Bill Becher used the maximum 16 players. The City Islanders were without midfielders Steve Custer (ankle), Steve Fisher (knee), and team captain Derek Potteiger (illness).
"This was a good effort for the first time out," said Becher. "Both teams had chances to score. This game could have easily been 3-3. We always want to win, but any time you get points on the road, it's a good thing."

The arch rival Pittsburgh Riverhounds come to town for Harrisburg's 2005 home opener, this Saturday, April 23. Kickoff at Skyline Sports Complex is 7:05 p.m., and gates open at 6:05 p.m.
The two clubs will meet for the first time since last August 21, when the Riverhounds extinguished the City Islanders' championship hopes with a 3-1 win in Pittsburgh, capturing the two-leg, aggregate score playoff series between the teams. One night earlier, Pittsburgh blanked Harrisburg 4-0 at Skyline.
Fans, staff, and media are invited to Skyline Sports Complex this Thursday, April 14, for the team's annual "Welcome to the Island Party." The first 200 people in attendance will receive a free hot dog and soda, and the City Islanders will hold an open practice on the Skyline pitch.
It is recommended that you contact Phil Yerger at 717-805-8127 to confirm practice times and player/staff availability.
