City Islanders' Lapore Earns PSL Honor

Harrisburg, PA â Rookie John Lapore is the latest Harrisburg City Islander to be named to the Pro Soccer League Team of the Week, the league has announced. The 22-year-old secured his honor with a first-rate performance in Harrisburg's 2-2 tie against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, May 15.
Lapore, a Cedar Cliff High School product and the second all-time leading scorer in Kutztown University history, scored his first professional goal in the 16th minute against Pittsburgh. Lapore has appeared in every game thus for the 2-1-2 Islanders, logging a total of 380 minutes in the midfield and at forward. He also played defense for the bulk of Harrisburg's preseason schedule.
Lapore is the seventh different Islander to be named to the Team of the Week this season. He joins Derek Potteiger and David Schofield (Week 1 - April 20), Keith Costigan and Matt Shealer (Week 3 - May 4), and Dave Kern and Steve Fisher (Week 4 - May 11). Harrisburg has placed someone on the Team of the Week every time they have played.

The Harrisburg City Islanders are playing their inaugural season in the Pro Soccer League (PSL), a division of the United Soccer Leagues (USL).
