City Islanders grab 1-0 preseason win

(Hershey, Pa., March 21, 2007) - The Harrisburg City Islanders defeated Saint Francis University 1-0 on Wednesday night at Hersheypark Stadium, in their first preseason match of the year. Trialist Brandon Lespron tallied the goal for the Island Guys in the 85th minute of play on what was a very chilly night.
The City Islanders now prepare for an intra-squad scrimmage on Friday March 23 at 9:00am at It The Net Sports Complex in Palmyra. The Islanders next preseason match is scheduled for March 28 against Bucknell University. Hersheypark Stadium will be host to the event that kicks off at 7:00pm.
Lespron, handled a cross from Jeremy Witherspoon and found the back of the night in the 85th minute for the nights only goal.
The City Islanders utilized 24 players during the match with Sam Bishop (GK) the only returning City Islanders player to notch any minutes. Bishop suffered a shoulder injury during the Islanders 2006 campaign.
The City Islanders begin their fourth season of play in the United Soccer Leagues Second Division against the Wilmington Hammerheads on Saturday April 21, 2007 at Skyline Sports Complex on City Island.

The Islanders are looking to rebound from a disappointing 2006 campaign which resulted in a 8-9-3 record. The City Islanders play in the United Soccer Leagues Second Division competing against squads in Baltimore (new), Bermuda (new), Charlotte (NC), Cincinnati, Cleveland (new), New Hampshire, Richmond (VA.), Western Mass, and Wilmington (NC).
