Harrisburg, PA â Defender Alex Brown scored with just 10 minutes left in the match to lift the Williamsburg Legacy to a 2-1 win over the Harrisburg City Islanders at Busch Stadium in Williamsburg on Saturday night. The loss drops Harrisburg to 3-3-2 (11 points).
J.T. Dorsey scored Harrisburg's lone goal, in the 25th minute, off a David Schofield assist. Following Dorsey's score, the Islanders were held in check for the remainder of the match.
Harrisburg goalkeeper Peter Boyer did his best to insure that the lack of scoring would not be a problem, posting 11 saves (a club single-game record) in his first professional start. But two Legacy goals within a six-minute span late in the second half spelled disaster for Harrisburg.
Forward Brannon Thomas tied the game at the 74-minute mark, and Brown followed in the 80th minute with his decisive tally. Despite a series of ardent flurries as the clock wound down, Harrisburg could not find an equalizer as the club fell to a Premier Development League team for the first time.
Notes: Harrisburg was outshot 21-14 in the game...Veteran Mike Henning made his Islanders debut, playing the full 90 minutes in the midfield...Harrisburg was without central defender Kyle Swords (personal)...Moffat Oduor started at right back for Harrisburg, marking the first time this season that Pete Shellenberger had not occupied that spot. Shellenberger played the entire game in the midfield...The Islanders return home next Friday, June 18, to face the Long Island Roughriders. Game time at Skyline Sports Complex is 7:35 p.m.
