(Manchester, NH) - The Harrisburg City Islanders dropped the first leg of their two-game weekend road trip on Friday, losing to the New Hampshire Phantoms by the score of 2-1 at Larkin Field on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.
Jamel Mitchell scored Harrisburg's goal, and Sam Bishop (5 saves) took the loss in net. The City Islanders, who now head to Ludlow, MA, to face the Western Mass Pioneers (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.), fall to 1-4-2 (5 points) on the season.
After a scoreless first half, New Hampshire's Tom McNeil (unassisted) accounted for the game's first goal, giving the Phantoms the lead in the 59th minute.
Mitchell tied the contest in the 74th minute with his team-leading fourth goal. The veteran striker, who had missed a penalty kick in the 52nd minute, put home a David Schofield service.
But just six minutes later, the Phantoms snagged the game-winner, as second-half sub Tomas Sczypiorski beat Bishop for the night's final goal.
