City Islanders Add Two to Roster

July 9, 2004 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Penn FC News Release

Harrisburg, PA –The Harrisburg City Islanders have announced the addition of two players to their master roster: goalkeeper Michael Behonick will join the team on loan from the A-League's Charleston Battery through the end of the season, and rookie defender Adam Schultz has signed with the club, pending United Soccer Leagues approval.

The 23-year-old Behonick has already spent two loan stints with Harrisburg this season, dressing as Dave Kern's backup on April 30 in Charlotte, and recording two saves in a 3-0 win in Westchester on June 26. The 6-3, 190-pound keeper did not play for Charleston during his rookie season of 2003, and has not yet appeared in a game in 2004. Behonick was a three-year starter at American University and was selected by D.C. United in the 2002 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Schultz, 23, is a 2003 graduate of the University of Evansville. After battling injuries during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, Schultz posted a fine senior campaign with two goals and six points in 19 games as the team captain. The 6-1, 175-pound backliner also earned a place on the Missouri Valley Conference Soccer Scholar-Athlete First Team. The native of Milwaukee, WI, garnered all-state and all-conference honors throughout an outstanding high school career. In the summer of 2003, Schultz played for the Cocoa Expos of the Premier Development League.

The PSL's roster freeze date is Monday, July 12. The Islanders host the South Jersey Barons of the PDL this Saturday, July 10, at Skyline Sports Complex. Kickoff is 7:35 p.m.

The Harrisburg City Islanders are playing their inaugural season in the Pro Soccer League (PSL), a division of the United Soccer Leagues (USL).

The club's 20-game regular season (10 home, 10 away) opened on April 17 and will conclude on Saturday, August 14, at home against the Charlotte Eagles.
