Cincinnati Riverhawks News Release
(Cincinnati, OH) â "Good things come to those who wait." That is what Cincinnati Riverhawks head coach Nick Ranieri must have been thinking today. The Riverhawks announced today that they have signed forward Jason Cole to the squad.
Cole was drafted by the Cincinnati Riverhawks in the 2002 A-League College Draft. Instead of joining the Riverhawks, Cole was entered the 2003 MLS Superdraft and was selected by the Colorado Rapids. Jason did not stay with the Rapids and was signed by the expansion Syracuse Salty Dogs. He was subsequently released by Syracuse at the end of June.
Originally from Kansas City, MO, Jason switched from defender to forward in 2002 and led the Saint Louis University Billikens with 42 points (18G, 6A). After helping Saint Louis win the Conference USA Tournament, Cole was honored as Conference USA Player of the Year, and was selected as a 1st Team All-Conference USA, a 1st Team All-Conference USA Tournament and a NSCAA 1st Team All-Midwest Region.
Cole will be available for tonight's important game against the Minnesota Thunder. With a win tonight, the Riverhawks would be tied for first with the Thunder in the Central Division, with a good chance to make a run at the playoffs.
The Riverhawks return home to host the Milwaukee Wave United in the first ever meeting of the two teams. The game is set for Saturday July 19 at 7:05 pm and will be played at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, KY.
As an A-League premier team and part of the United Soccer Leagues, the Cincinnati Riverhawks enter its sixth season in 2003. For tickets and general team information call (513) 326-GOAL or visit www.riverhawks.com.
