
Cincinnati Hosts Miami Valley in CIFL Playoffs

Setting the Scene: The top-seeded Commandos host No. 4 Miami Valley for the third time this season, only this time it's for a spot in the CIFL championship game. Cincinnati went 2-0 against the Silverbacks, racking up a 53-26 win in their season opener and 58-50 victory in Week 6.
Broken record: The Commando defense recorded 34 sacks in 2010, shattering the CIFL record for sacks in a season, previously set by the Port Huron Pirates (27) in '06 and '07 ... Cincinnati's defense racked up 27 interceptions on the season, one shy of the CIFL record set by the '06 Rochester Raiders and the '08 Rock River Raptors.
No. 1 spot: For the season, the Commandos led the CIFL in total offense (211.7 ypg), scoring offense (49.3 ppg), yards per play (5.4), rushing yards (722), and turnover margin (+14), among others. Defensively, they finished first in total defense (138.9 ypg), interceptions, sacks, and pass defense efficiency (52.4).
Leader board: The CIFL individual leader page is filled with Commandos on offense and defense. QB Ben Mauk led the league in total offense (175.1 ypg), total touchdowns (50), passing yards (1,430), completion percentage (66.0), completions (134) and passing touchdowns (46) ... WR Dominick Goodman topped the league in receptions (47), receiving yards (473) and receiving touchdowns (18) ... Defensively, DB Jeff Franklin led the league with nine interceptions ... Fellow DB EJ Underwood finished No. 1 in interceptions returned for touchdowns (three) and interception return yards (128), despite only playing in the team's final five games ... DE James Spikes paced the CIFL in sacks (15) and tackles for loss (19), while DT Terrill Byrd (9.5) and DE James Frazier (5) finished third and sixth in sacks, respectively.
Racking 'em up: After five out of 10 regular season games, at least one Commando received a CIFL player of the week award. Below is the list of winners, preceded by the game date for which they were honored.
