CIFL Week 10 Players of the Week

May 22, 2007 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release

CIFL Offensive Player of the Week

J.R. Taylor, Chicago Slaughter

The former Eastern Illinois University running back carried his team during the 51-47 upset of Kalamazoo on Sunday, May 20, at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Taylor, who played with current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo at EIU, rushed nine times for 69 yards and five touchdowns against the Xplosion. He also caught two balls for nine yards in the game.

The Slaughter climbed to 5-2 on the year with the win over the previously unbeaten Xplosion. They are currently third in the Great Lakes Division standings, behind Port Huron and Kalamazoo.

CIFL Defensive Player of the Week

John Taylor, Lehigh Valley Outlawz

The Jersey City College alumnus seemed to be in on every pass play Marion tried to attempt in helping his team capture a 48-25 victory over the Mayhem at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pa.

Taylor had just 3.5 tackles on the night, but had four pass breakups and intercepted two passes. The last of the two interceptions came in the fourth quarter, which he promptly returned for a 46-yard touchdown. Taylor and the Outlawz are currently 4-3 and sit in fourth in the Atlantic Division standings, a half-game back of Steubenville and New England.

CIFL Special Teams Player of the Week

Bismarck Osei, New England Surge

The former Northeastern University wideout had a key role in New England's fourth-straight victory; a win over Chesapeake 62-39 at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.

Osei's 51-yard kickoff return early in the second quarter gave the Surge a 14-7 lead, something they would not relinquish.

New England is surging right now, having won the last four-straight and five of the last six games they've played. They are currently 5-3 and tied for second in the Atlantic Division standings with Steubenville.
