February 16, 2004 - NBA G League (G League)
Columbus Riverdragons News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga., February 16 – The Columbus Riverdragons are hosting a night of celebration and song on March 5 at the Columbus Civic Center with "Faith and Family Night", as the Dragons host the Roanoke Dazzle at 7 p.m.. All church choirs from around the Chattahoochee Valley are invited to take part in the festivities and lend their voices in performing the largest group "sing-in" of the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America in Columbus sports history prior to the game.

The celebration will begin with pre-game activities, as various choirs will perform on the concourse of the Civic Center. Then, prior to tip-off, all church choirs in attendance will participate in an exciting, on-court ceremony with the singing of the National Anthem and God Bless America. The featured halftime performers will be dancers from Cottrell Dance Studio and all in attendance will be treated to a post-game concert featuring Christian rock artists Torn Temple Veil.

"As a family-oriented entertainment option, we continue to look for ways to reach everyone in the Chattahoochee Valley," said team president J. Barry McMullin. "We sat down as a staff and posed the question - what is the largest group we could bring out to the Civic Center? ... and everyone started talking about their church. Out of that bloomed the idea to have a host of church choirs singing the national anthem on the court. No one is going to want to be left out of this great event."

All church choirs are invited to attend. The Riverdragons are offering up to twenty, free tickets per each participating choir or congregation who wishes to attend. Additional tickets can be purchased for choir members families or friends at a discounted rate of just $6 per ticket. To sign up your church choir or congregation and attend "Faith and Family Night", contact Matt LaBranche at (706) 225-1112 or e-mail Matt at mlabranche@nba.com.
