PHILADELPHIA (June 19, 2014) - The Back-to-Back American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul and the Arena Football League announce the return of offensive linemen, Christian Johnson (6'4, 330, Kentucky), for the remainder of the 2014 season. The third-year veteran returns to finish out the 2014 season after participating in training camp with the Arizona Cardinals.

"Anytime you get returning All-Arena player back on your team, you immediately improve the talent level of your roster," said head coach Clint Dolezel. "Not only is he a quality athlete on the field, but in the locker room, he is a leader that boosts the morale of the team."

Johnson started in 17-of-18 games with the Soul last season and earned First Team All-Arena honors. He was one of the anchors on the offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in the AFL for 18 regular-season games and all three postseason games for the Soul in 2012. The third-year All-Arena caliber lineman played his rookie season under Dolezel in Dallas in 2011 where he allowed only one sack in 15 games.

As a freshman at Kentucky in 2005, Johnson played in the final 10 games of the season seeing significant playing time as a reserve. In 2006, he started 12 games at left guard. During his junior year in 2007, he appeared in all 13 games, alternating at guard with two other players. He made his first start of the season in a game against LSU, where he gave up no sacks and lead the way in the run-game, giving the team 125 rushing yards. His high-school career at West Potomac, Alexandria, VA included earning All-Metro honors for the District of Columbia Area, and a two-year All-District pick.
