San Francisco Dragons News Release
San Francisco, CA - Representing the San Francisco Dragons and the MLL in the 2006 MLL All Star game will be midfielder Chris Rotelli. The All Star Game, taking place on July 6 in Boston, will pit the MLL team against the US National Team.
No stranger to the contest, Rotelli participated in last year's game (representing Boston) and won the MLL freestyle competition. "I'm extremely excited to represent MLL and the Dragons," says Rotelli, "and I'm proud to be a part of such a great lacrosse team."
The MLL All Star Team is made up of players that are not on the US National Team, currently, the Team USA roster is made up entirely of MLL players. The players on the MLL All Star Team were not selected for Team USA, but that doesn't mean that the group is any less able. Says Rotelli, "There's so much talent in the MLL, that there's twenty different ways you could make up the roster for Team USA. It will be a great game, and a great opportunity to showcase the league."
Representing the Dragons on the Team USA is attackman Ryan Powell out of Syracuse University. Yesterday, Powell was named MLL Week 4 Offensive Player of the Week, after a record tying 9 goal and 12 point performance in Denver on Saturday.
The 2006 MLL All Stars vs. Team USA game will be played on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Nickerson Field in Boston, MA, home of the Boston Cannons. The game will be broadcast Sunday, July 9 at 1:00 PM on ESPN2.
