CHL Performance of the Week Winner Announced

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that New Mexico goaltender Jason Wolfe has been voted Week One's top performer for his 25-save shutout of Amarillo on October 18th, 2008. The Scorpions won the game 6-0.

Wolfe received 1,256 of the 1,914 votes cast during the weekly poll accounting for 66% of the votes. Coming in second place was Corpus Christi center Chris Richard's seven-point (4-3=7) on October 18th.

The shutout by Wolfe was the first shutout in Scorpions history in the month of October and is the first and only shutout through the first two weeks of the CHL's 2008-09 season. The College Park, Maryland native signed with the Scorpions during the off-season after playing all of the 2007-08 season with the Oklahoma City Blazers. Wolfe is 1-1-1 this season with a 3.08 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.

The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week two of the season are as follows:

-Odessa's four goal outburst in a 2:54 span in the first period of their victory over New Mexico on October 24th

-Texas' Scott Sheppard scoring five points (2-3=5) in the Brahmas win over Odessa on October 25th

-Laredo's Alex Goupil scoring a pair of third period goals, including game winner, in the Bucks 3-1 victory over Corpus Christi on October 25th -Morgan Cey of Colorado making 41 saves in the Eagles 2-1 shootout victory over OKC on October 26th

-Rapid City's Chris Lipsett recording the first hat trick in franchise history in win at CRP on October 24th
