CHL Fall Governors' Meetings Conclude

The Central Hockey League has concluded it's annual Fall Governors' Meetings, finalizing several operational issues for the coming season of play. In addition to the Governors' Meetings, held in Dallas, several CHL member clubs participated in a pre-season sales training session, sharing ideas and finalizing preparations for the upcoming year.
During Friday's meeting, two key operational items were ratified by the CHL Board of Governors. For the 2004-2005 postseason, members of the CHL's On-Ice Officiating staff will serve as Goal Judges for all games during the Ray Miron President's Cup Finals, as well as for all potential series deciding games in the both the Northern and Southern Conference Finals. In addition, the guidelines for signing National Hockey League contracted players were determined and unanimously approved by the Board of Governors. NHL players will sign a Standard Player Agreement, and will be subject to all previously established guidelines relating to CHL roster regulations. The guidelines established do not permit teams to provide additional insurance coverage beyond what is regulated for all CHL players. "The Central Hockey League continues to hope for a positive and timely resolution to the NHL labor situation," said CHL President Brad Treliving. "In the interim it was important for our League to establish procedures under which teams could accept such players." This past week the Fort Worth Brahmas signed Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Brad Lukowich, making him the first NHL player to sign a "AA" contract.
Also released today was the CHL's 2004-05 pre-season schedule, consisting of 18 games. Highlighting the exhibition season are three contests against the Mexican National Team, who will visit Rio Grande Valley on October 15th, Corpus Christi on October 16th and Laredo on October 18th. In other news, the CHL today announced that Greg Foster of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs has been named the CHL's August Employee of the Month for his outstanding sales efforts. An Account Executive for the Mudbugs, Foster has quickly established himself as a key member of the Bossier-Shreveport organization.
The Central Hockey League is currently preparing for its 13th season of play this October, and once again led all North American professional "AA" leagues in average attendance during the 2003-2004 regular season, welcoming 4,501 fans per contest this past year.
