
CHL Announces Winners at Annual Awards Banquet

GLENDALE, AZ (July 23, 2014) - The Central Hockey League's (CHL) Annual Meetings concluded on Wednesday night at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino in Chandler, Arizona with the CHL Awards - Celebration of Excellence, honoring the top front office executives and team achievements from the 2013-14 season.
The top award of the night stretched a record streak as the Missouri Mavericks beat out other finalists, the Rapid City Rush and Wichita Thunder, for their fourth consecutive CHL Franchise of the Year award. Commissioner Steve Ryan presented the Mavs and their General Manager Brent Thiessen with the honor. Missouri also claimed numerous other awards including top honors in the categories of Ticket Sales, Corporate Sales, Merchandising, Group Ticket Sales and Social Media (Sales). Additionally, Mavericks Executive Vice President Greg Bergen was honored with the Ralph Backstrom Soul of Service award for outstanding customer service.
The Quad City Mallards also celebrated a big night with team President Bob McNamara earning the Brad Treliving Executive of the Year award (edged out Missouri's Thiessen and Wichita's Joel Lomurno). The Flock were also named the CHL's Most Improved Team and Zac Wilken was named the Ticket Sales Executive of the Year.
Tulsa Oilers General Manager, Taylor Hall, was named the recipient of the Rick Kozuback Award, named in recognition of former CHL President and CHL Hall Of Fame member Rick Kozuback, which is "Ëpresented annually to the Central Hockey League owner, front office staff member, coach or player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, determination and commitment to the game, sport and business of hockey.'
