CHL Announces Change to Opening Night Schedule

GLENDALE, AZ (October 15th) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today a change to the 2012-13 regular season schedule altering the opening night opponent of the Wichita Thunder.
The game, scheduled for Friday, October 19, originally featured the Quad City Mallards at the Wichita Thunder, but circumstances have dictated a change with the Tulsa Oilers now coming into Wichita to face the Thunder on opening night.
"There have been some challenges with the Mallards training camp and getting the team in a position to open this season in the timeframe planned," said Duane Lewis, CHL Commissioner. "With the Mallards only scheduled for one game before October 26, we felt it was the best move for all parties to remove them from Friday's game in Wichita and allow them the extra time to prepare for the 2012-13 season. We fully expect the Mallards to participate in their game in Tulsa scheduled for Friday, October 26."
The Oilers were idle on Friday night and already scheduled to be in Wichita on Saturday, October 20 meaning they will be in town for two games against their longtime rivals.
An adjustment to compensate for this change will be announced at a later date.
