Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced the continuation of the Canada Post Cup three stars program for the 2004-05 CHL season.

Throughout the entire season, the three stars of each game in the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League will be awarded points towards the Canada Post Cup. The first star will receive 10 points, the second star will receive five points and the third star will receive two points.

There are three segments of the program and the top player for each segment in each division of the three leagues will receive a $100 donation from Canada Post for their league's education program.

The overall winner from each league at the conclusion of the 2004-05 season will be recognized at the CHL Awards Ceremony and Canada Post will donate $2,500 in each winner's name to their respective league education program. Canada Post will be donating more than $10,000 to the league educational programs through this event.

Fans and media can follow the progress of the Canada Post Cup on the Internet at www.chl.ca, as well as each of the respective league Web Sites.

"We are very proud to continue this outstanding program with Canada Post," said CHL President David Branch. "Our league educational programs are an important building block for the student-athletes that compete in the Canadian Hockey League. This program provides us with a fantastic opportunity to partner with Canada Post to recognize some of the CHL's brightest stars while contributing to our league education programs."

Alain Guilbert, vice-president of Communications at Canada Post, added that the company was looking forward to continuing this program.

"The CHL's education program is an important link between these teams and their communities," Guilbert said. "With literacy being our corporate cause of choice, we are aware of the good that comes from community involvement in education."

He added that Canada Post has played a role in supporting Canadian hockey at all levels for many years through its stamp and sponsorship programs.

"Canada Post has worked closely with the NHL in recent years to promote our current hockey heroes, and has supported the CHL through advertising programs. With this initiative, Canada Post will now hopefully be playing a role in assisting Canada's hockey superstars of the future."

Canadian Controlled Media Communications (CCMC), the CHL's exclusive sales agency, facilitated the partnership, which also included regional in-ice logos in team venues and partner level sponsorship of the CHL's major special events.`
