Chippewa Steel Announce 2019-2020 Captains

(Chippewa Falls, WI) - The Chippewa Steel have announced their leadership core for the 2019-2020 season. Forward Jacob Dirks and Forward Isaac Moberg will serve as team captains. Forward Connor Szmul and Defenseman Spencer Oyler will serve as alternate captains. All four players are returners from the 2018-2019 team.
Dirks, the lone Wisconsin native on the roster was the top offensive player a season ago netting 24 goals and dishing out 16 assists while appearing in all 60 games. Moberg saw action in 53 games last season recording a total of 19 points.
Connor Szmul was a consistent player for the Steel last year scoring the second-highest amount of goals on the team with 16. Spencer Oyler will look to continue his solid defensive play and hold down the blue line for Chippewa.
"The four captains selected are guys that we're confident can lead our program in the right direction. They all complement each other in different ways, and we look forward to what they can help our group accomplish," stated Head Coach Carter Foguth.
The Steel will open their season on the road Friday, September 13th against Janesville Jets before returning to Chippewa Area Ice Arena on Saturday, September 14th for the Home Opener. Puck drop is slated for 7:10 p.m. Individual Adult Tickets are just $10 for adults, Ages 5-18 $6 and under 4 is free.
