Chill Fall to Wilderness Friday

December 15, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Coulee Region Chill News Release

The Coulee Region Chill couldn't hold off the Minnesota Wilderness in hopes of getting the only two points available this past weekend.

The first period in Friday nights contest was competitive with no scoring and only one penalty (Aussie Miller, check from behind).  The second period is when the Wilderness turned it up a notch and started getting pucks on net, a total of 20 in the second period compared to just 8 for the Chill.  The Wilderness converted on two of those shots with Tristan Rostagno and Tyler Cline both putting pucks in the back of the net.

It was just a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.  Aaron Miller scored with just 1:24 into the period and Brian Hurley scored on a power play goal for the Wilderness after Nico Luka was sent to the penalty blox after being called for head contact.  The Chill reached the scoreboard 13:12 into the final frame on a Dom Florian goal with helpers from Isaac Theisen and Jackson Charlesworth.  Brett Heikkila finished the scoring off for the night with under two minutes to play and the Wilderness went on to win 5-1.

Hunter Vorva got the call in net once again with Matiss Kivlenieks gone to Latvia for the month.  For the third consecutive game Vorva faced over 40 SOG, this time saving 37/42.

The Chill are back in action this weekend at home with a game Friday night against the Minnesota Magicians and Saturday night against the Austin Bruins.  Both pucks drop at 7pm at the Green Island Ice Arena.
