Chile's Colo-Colo To Play Brazil's Vitória In Edmonton
June 21, 2010 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
FC Edmonton News Release
Chilean giant Colo-Colo will play Brazil's Vitória in a friendly match Sunday, June 27th at Edmonton's Foote Field. Game time is 4:05 PM.
Originally scheduled as a friendly between FC Edmonton and Vitória, management in Edmonton agreed to step aside to allow the two South American giants the opportunity to play each other.
"Colo-Colo expressed an interest in playing Vitória while they were here for pre-season training," said FC Edmonton GM Mel Kowalchuk.
"They asked if we could find other games to continue their training in Edmonton."
Colo-Colo is holding their pre-season training in Edmonton on the heels of a successful training camp last summer for Argentina's River Plate.
"The word got around that Edmonton has great soccer facilities," said Kowalchuk. "We were happy to oblige Colo-Colo in any way we could. Now with Vitória they will train here as well."
Vitória arrives in Edmonton June 23rd and has decided to remain in Alberta for pre-season training until June 28th. They will be in Calgary for two days.
