Chicoutimi Hands Lewiston a 5-3 Loss

Lewiston, ME - The Lewiston MAINEiacs were unable to stop the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on their power play attempts tonight as Chicoutimi scored 4 power play goals to hand the MAINEiacs a 5-3 loss.

The score was tied in the first when Stefano Giliati received a five minute major and a game misconduct for a cross-checking penalty at 19:06 of the first period. Shortly thereafter, Chicoutimi's Francis Verreault-Paul netted one past MAINEiacs netminder Jonathan Bernier with only five seconds to play in the first. Three more power play goals were scored early in the second to give Chicoutimi the lead 4-0. Lewiston's Alex Beaton scored the first MAINEiacs' goal at 8:46 to close out the second period.

Marc-Andre Daneau and David Taylor landed each a goal in the third for the MAINEiacs but Chicoutimi's Joel Champagne sealed the win for the Sagueneens with his even strength goal at 2:43.

The MAINEiacs are back on home ice Sunday take on the Moncton Wildcats at 4 PM.
