Chicago Steam Vs. Kentucky Bisons In Big Early Season Game
November 25, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Chicago Steam News Release
Chicago, IL. This Sunday, at South Suburban College, 15800 S. State Street in South Holland IL, the defending ABA Champion Kentucky Bisons will play its third out-of-division game in a row when they head north to meet the powerful Chicago Steam, a team that went 3-0 in the pre-season and is ranked #3 in the ABA Power Rankings, above the Bisons' #5 ranking. The Bisons opened their pre-season with a four game series against the powerful Beijing Aoshen Olympian in China, returned to the US and went to Beaumont TX as part of the Tip-Off Classic - and lost two very close games to the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the ABA.
"Not the way we planned to start," said team owner Jay Bowdy, "but it's a long season and we'll be there at the end. This Sunday is a great test."
"We feel very confident that we do have a top team," added Ron Hicks, co-owner and Head Coach of the Chicago Steam. "I like our team and we've even added Former Harlem Globetrotter Curly "Boo" Johnson as our 13th Man Celebrity Player on Sunday. "Boo" can play. I think this will give a very good indication of how the North Central, South Central and Southwest teams shape up. We think we have very strong divisions."
