Chicago Soul vs. Syracuse Silver Knights Preview

November 23, 2012 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Chicago Soul FC News Release

After a 16-8 loss to the Rochester Lancers on Wednesday, the Chicago Soul (1-4) will look to improve against the Syracuse Silver Knights (1-4) on Saturday night when they travel to the Oncenter War Memorial Arena. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT.

Last Meeting

The Soul last faced the Silver Knights in the season opener on November 2. Chicago was able to come away with its first franchise victory with a 13-8 win over Syracuse. Carlos Muñoz led the way, scoring twice in the fourth quarter to give the Soul the boost they needed to close out the game. Christian Meza, Matthew Stewart, Bato Radoncic and former Silver Knight Alexander Megson were also among the goal scorers for the night.

Stepping In

Depleted by injuries, the Soul continue to look for ways to compensate for the void, including turning to their assistant coach for help. Novi Marojevic was signed to a player contract earlier this week, and is set to compete in Syracuse on Saturday. The 39-year-old Montenegro native, who possesses almost 20 years of professional soccer experience, will look to provide the Soul with the spark they need in the absence of five key players, including Bato Radoncic. With Marojevic's presence on the field, Chicago hopes to gain the leadership and guidance it needs to compensate for the five-man loss.

The Competition

With just one win in their first five games, Syracuse will be looking to rebound from a tough string of losses. Matt Clare, who has emerged as a key piece for the Silver Knights, will be on the Soul's radar after racking up 11 points in the last four games. Chicago will also be on the lookout for Elmo Marques Neto and Nelson Santana, who currently lead the team in goals at four, along with Clare.
