Chicago Soul vs. Rochester Lancers Preview

November 20, 2012 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Chicago Soul FC News Release

After an intense battle in Rochester resulted in an 18-16 loss in overtime last Saturday, the Chicago Soul (3-1) return to the Blue Cross Arena ready for redemption. The Soul will take on the Lancers (1-2) on Wednesday in their fifth straight road game. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m.

On the Radar

Veteran defender Roberto Gallo played a key role in the Soul's last meeting with the Lancers as he singlehandedly assembled a four-point rally in the fourth quarter, scoring a pair of goals with minutes remaining to take the game into overtime. Chicago will turn to Gallo again on Wednesday to help fill the defensive void left by injured Chris Brisson and an unhealthy Tijani Ayegbusi, who returns from a hamstring injury. Gallo is also currently ranked second in the league in blocks with a total of nine recorded in four games.

Despite being a league newcomer, forward Christian Meza has made an immediate impact for the Soul. Between last weekend's outings in Baltimore and Rochester, Meza tallied a total of seven points (three goals, one assist), earning himself a spot on the MISL Team of the Week.

Carlos Muñoz continues to make a splash in the MISL in his rookie season. The Uruguayan midfielder recorded a total of nine points (three goals, three assists) last weekend, and currently sits in fourth place among all league scorers with 14 points.

Veteran forward Bato Radoncic comes off of another stellar performance, racking up seven points on the weekend (two goals, three assists). The Soul will turn to the Montenegro native to help lead the way as they attempt to collect a redemptive victory in Rochester.

Still Hurting

With veteran defender Chris Brisson and midfielder Judson McKinney on the injured reserve list, and midfielder Marco Sullo missing another week of MISL action due to a shoulder injury, the Soul will once again face the challenging task of playing without a few of their key pieces.

The Competition

The Lancers return to action at home after falling 17-11 to the undefeated Baltimore Blast on Saturday. The Rochester squad is powered by Mauricio Salles (13 points) and Doug Miller (12 points), who currently rank seventh and eighth, respectively, among all MISL scorers.
