Chicago Rush News Release

CHICAGO (May 2, 2011) - The Chicago Rush are pleased to announce the signing of AFL veteran WR JJ McKelvey (6-4, 220, Clemson) as well as DL Kirston Pittman (6-3, 260, LSU) to the team's 2011 roster. The Rush are preparing to travel to Tulsa to face the Tulsa Talons in a Central Division matchup.

"We love the team we have put together this season, but if we see an opportunity to go out and get guys that will make us better we will certainly do that, said Rush head coach Bob McMillen. "Our goal is to improve with each week."

McKelvey, a four-year AFL veteran, has been a dominant wide receiver with such teams as the Philadelphia Soul, Utah Blaze and Arizona Rattlers. Throughout his career in the AFL, McKelvey has accumulated 326 receptions for 3,991 yards and 108 touchdowns. He was a three year letter winner at Clemson University, and caught 52 passes for a team leading 752 yards in his senior season with the Tigers.

Pittman is entering his rookie season in the AFL. Prior to joining the Rush, Pittman signed as an undrafted free agent in 2009 with the Saint Louis Rams. He started all 14 games at defensive end for the LSU Tigers during their 2007 National Championship season. Pittman led the team in both sacks (8.0) and tackles for losses (13.0) in 2007, and was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week following a game against Virginia Tech in which he led the team with a career-high eight stops.

The Rush also activated OL Beau Elliot from IR on Monday.
