Chicago Rockstars Out-Rolled By Rollers
January 2, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Chicago Rockstars News Release
The Rockstars had a tough time Friday night, playing from behind by double digits through nearly three full quarters before finally closing the gap but falling short to the the Sauk Valley Rollers 101-94. The presence of Illinois State Senator Kwame Raoul as 13th man was not enough to energize the Rockstars.
Hot shooting by the opposition once again undid the Rockstars. The offense also seemed out of synch, as Imari Sawyer seemed bothered by an ankle injury, scored 12 points.
Sherrick Simpson led the Rockstars in scoring with 22 points and 8 rebounds, but ended up in foul trouble late in the game. The big men led the offensive side of the court, with Phil Taylor and Brandon Weiss both going for double figures, but the undersized Rollers were able to out-rebound the Rockstars.
Kenny Williams said that the team was improving, and he expected them to go on a hot streak "very soon." The Rockstars next game is Friday, January 5th at the Quad City River Hawks. Then the Rockstars are back at home on Monday the 8th to host the division leading Ripknees. Both games will start at 7:05 and tickets are available.
Directions: from The Loop, take the Kennedy (I-90/94) north, merge with the Eden's Expressway (I-94) and go north; exit at Peterson; go east on Peterson to Pulaski, south on Pulaski to Foster, go east on Foster and turn north on Central Park. The building is straight ahead.
