Chicago 69, Rock River 38
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.-Chicago extended its win streak to three games by upending Rock River 69-38 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Chicago moved to 3-0 with the win, while the Raptors fell to 0-3.
The Slaughter raced to a 28-0 lead and never led by fewer than 18 points as they claimed the victory in front over 3,200 fans.
Slaughter quarterback Russ Michna fired three touchdowns in the opening quarter, helping his team to a 21-0 lead through one. Michna hit Dontrell Jackson with a 39-yard score less than two minutes into the first and then connected with Donovan Morgan on a 29-yard strike.
Keith Herron hauled in Michna's third scoring aerial of the quarter, an eight-yarder with 2:27 left in the period.
The Slaughter stretched their lead to 28-0 just 41 seconds into the second quarter on DeJuan Alfonzo's 20-yard pick-six.
Rock River finally marked the scoreboard on a one-yard dive by Brian Ryczkowski with 37 ticks left in the first half.
The Raptors recovered a fumble on the ensuing kick, but Dennison Robinson picked off Ryczkowski on the next play and returned it 10 yards for a score to make it 35-6 at the break.
Rock River won the third quarter 22-14, thanks in large part to Ryczkowski's three passing scores. He hit Zontavius Johnson for a 24-yard score to open the quarter and followed that with a 22-yarder and six-yarder to Bryce Stephens.
Michna, meanwhile, hit Dontrell Jackson for a 26-yard score and Morgan for a 32-yard score.
The Raptors cut the Chicago lead to 18 with 4:27 left in the game, but Michna would toss two more scores, to Morgan and Reggie Gray, to close things out.
Michna finished 17-of-26 for 280 yards and seven touchdowns. Jackson caught seven balls for 126 yards and two scores and Morgan hauled in seven catches for 111 yards and three scores.
Chicago will visit Wheeling on April 4, while Rock River will be on the road to Wisconsin on the same night.
