
Chicago Fire Soccer Club Weekly Update: June 30 - July 6, 2019

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will play two matches in a four-day span this week, beginning with its home match against Atlanta United FC on Wednesday, July 3. Scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT at SeatGeek Stadium, the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and transmitted locally in Spanish on Univision Radio 93.5 Latino Mix. Coverage on ESPN+ will begin at 6:45 p.m. CT with a live pregame show presented by CIBC. Wednesday night is Fireworks Night. Read more here.
Three days later, on Saturday, July 6, the Men in Red will play an away match against Sporting Kansas City at Children's Mercy Park. Scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast on ESPN+ and transmitted locally in Spanish on Univision Radio 93.5 Latino Mix. Coverage on ESPN+ will begin at 7:15 p.m. CT with a live pregame show presented by CIBC.
Entering Wednesday's match, the Fire are unbeaten in its last seven home games (4-0-3) since March 30. In its most recent match at SeatGeek Stadium, the Men in Red battled Real Salt Lake to a 1-1 draw on June 22. Midfielder Aleksandar Katai scored his fourth goal of the season in the draw, finishing a direct free kick in the fifth minute of the match.
Wednesday's game marks the second meeting between the Fire and Atlanta United in 2019. The two teams previously faced each other at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 1, with Atlanta United winning 2-0 at home. Atlanta United (9-6-2, 29 points) enters Wednesday's fixture after defeating the Montreal Impact 2-1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 29. Midfielder Justin Meram scored a brace in the win for Atlanta. Overall, the team is led in scoring by forward Josef Martinez, who has scored 10 goals this season.
Saturday's match will mark the Fire's first meeting with Sporting Kansas City in 2019. Sporting KC (4-6-7, 19 points) currently sits in 11th place in the Western Conference standings. Prior to facing the Fire, Sporting KC, which has played its last five matches away from home, will return to Children's Mercy Park to take on Los Angeles FC on Wednesday, July 3.
