by the numbers

9 - Chicago Fire FC enters Matchday 6 with nine goals scored through their first five games of the 2024 regular season. Their nine goals are tied with St. Louis CITY SC for third-most in the league, sitting below Inter Miami CF (13) and the LA Galaxy (12).

2 - With his opening goal against the New England Revolution, forward Hugo Cuypers is now tied for the team lead in goals with Homegrown Player Brian Gutiérrez and midfielder Fabian Herbers. Cuypers' opening tally against New England made him the first player this season to score in back-to-back games. Additionally, his goal in the 20th minute of play was the earliest scored by Chicago so far this season.

20 - Midfielder Brian Gutiérrez currently sits at 18 career assists since joining the Fire on a Homegrown contract in 2020. If Gutiérrez records two more assists, he will become the second player in League history to record 20 assists before turning 21 years of age. Gutiérrez turns 21 on June 17.

100 - With his start against the New England Revolution, midfielder Gastón Giménez recorded his 100th career MLS appearance with Chicago Fire FC. Giménez became the 31st Argentine-born player to record 100 MLS appearances and was the first to reach the milestone in Club history.

1 - Midfielder Fabian Herbers wore the captain's armband from the outset for the first time in his Major League Soccer career. Currently the longest-tenured player on the Fire, Herbers became the 11th player to serve as team captain since his arrival to Chicago in 2019.

Herbers joins Xherdan Shaqiri, Rafael Czichos, Spencer Richey, Gaston Giménez, Jonathan Bornstein, Francisco Calvo, Johan Kappelhof, Dax McCarty, Nemanja Nikolić, and Bastian Schweinsteiger as players who have worn the armband since the 2019 season.
