Chicago Bandits News Release

Elgin, Ill. - With one down and two on for the Chicago Bandits, catcher Rachel Folden (1-for-2, 2B) blasted a 1-1 pitch deep to left centerfield for a 2-run double, giving Chicago a 2-0 lead over the Beverly Bandits Gold Squad in the bottom of the third.

Chicago (20-4) would go on to add six more runs to seal the victory, 6-0, against the Beverly Bandits in the exhibition. The first inning flew by as both the Beverly and the Chicago Bandits went 1-2-3 to make quick work of each other.

With one out in the top of the second, Stacy May opened the hitting with a single passed the diving glove of the Beverley Bandits short stop. Nicole Trimboli followed her up with a single passed second base to put two on for Chicago Bandits second baseman Kristie Fox. Fox was sent down after fouling out to Ashley Steinhilber at first. Chicago catcher Jamie Schloredt grounded out to end the top half.

In the bottom half of the second, Chicago's Gina Oaks stepped into the circle to replace Brandice Balschmiter. Balschmiter finished with two innings pitched, no hits and no runs in the effort.

The Beverley Bandits were sent down 1-2-3 in the top of the third.

In the bottom of the third, Laura Harms drew a walk to put one on for Chicago, and stole second base two pitches later. After Williams popped out to left, Amber Patton drew another walk to put two on for Chicago. Both were driven home by Folden's blast. Folden went down on the play in obvious pain and was replaced by Cheyenne Jenks on the base path.

Jenks moved to third when Samantha Findlay sent a grounder to first for the second out of the inning. Stacy May's single up the middle brought in another run for Chicago, putting the lead at 3-0. May would come around to score when Nicole Trimboli sent a hard grounder up the middle. The inning ended when Trimboli tried to stretch the single into a double and was tagged out at second.

In the bottom of the fourth, Ashley Carlson drew a walk to kick things off, stole second base and moved to third when Schloredt grounded out to second base.

With two on and two outs, Ashley Carlson raced home while Aileen Morales moved to third when the Beverly catcher sent the ball sailing into centerfield, making the score 5-0 in favor of Chicago.

In the top of the fifth, Carly Willert walked to put one on for Beverly. Willert moved to second when a hard grounder to short earned the second out of the inning. Another ground out ended the inning shortly after.

After Chicago's Cheyenne Jenks blasted a triple down the right field line to open the bottom of the fifth, Chicago rookie Izmena Cabrera blasted a deep and high homerun over the left field scoreboard for a 2-run homerun. The blast put the Bandits up 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth.

Laura Harms came in to score from third to give Chicago a 8-0 after Aileen Morales grounded out on a fielder choice with two outs in the bottom half of the eighth.

The Beverly Bandits put up a threat, but could not overcome the 8-0 deficit as Kristina Thorson closed things out for the Chicago. Brandice Balschmiter recorded the exhibition victory for the Bandits in the circle.
